Love that face

one of the Isles of Scilly pictures of Lydia – sporting her favourite Pirate Headscarf.

This is an on Scrapaholic kit, with the red and blue cardstock added from my stash. I’ve only the the bare bones so far. Since taking the picture I’ve added some Hero Arts Gem Stones on the L and a white hydrangea angel kisses, layered over a red daisy angel kisses.

The “o” “v” “e” were cut one of the cuttlebug vintage dies, and then the MM rub-ons added to the centres, and matted with the blue cardstock.I need some kind of heart decoration, for the bottom of the layout, and I have just been wondering if I should use the new Papermania stamp on shrink plastic.

No sign of my Zutter Bind It All yet – I spoke to the lady on Saturday to finalise what binding I wanted, and I’d hoped it would be here today. The Cricut’s are still on route from the States too, so I’m some fabbie equipment down – and not having much of a sense of humour about it currently. Especially, as I’ve had some distressing news afternoon – apparently middle age has struck, I verifocals – YES, OLD LADY GLASSES!

It’s lovely and quiet here, Guy’s away on business, Lydia is staying with her mate Charlie, and Rob is out for the evening…, I’m about to retire with a nice half bottle of Pino to drown my sorrows with an episode of Peep Show and a bit of Dr Who – mmmmmmmm, my two favourite Davids’

More Shore Cliff I’m afraid

but this was all in the persuance of stamping science.

I zipped off down to our local department store in Tonbridge (they stock Do Crafts) and grabbed a few more Whispers colours: Starry Starry Night (dark blue), Savoy Green (limish green), Violet and Sunshine (bright yellow). I also picked up a pack of Paper Mania Latte Square Card Blanks (oh and my are they yummy when you get them out of the packet).

I made a quick ATC with the Shore Cliff bolio again, then remembered that it’s FIL’s birthday on 7th May, so matted that on my beloved Watercolour Illuminations (Creative Imagingation) paper, which I’d stamped with Whispers Lilac round the edge, and edged it with the Starry, Starry Night.

Stamped the starfish from the bolio in the Savoy Green, and then stamped over with the mesh in the Starry Starry Night, there was a bit of a gap where I joined the image, so over this I added a scrap blue shiney ribbon.

The seahorse image, another purchase from this morning (Do Crafts) was the main focal image on the ATC stamped in the Starry Starry Night, and then stamped on the card with the Lilac.

Actually ahead of myself this year with card’s usually I leave them right to the last minute. I just need to do a last minute one for Romilly my God Daughter now though.

Thinking about it, I will probably add some jute and blue fibre round the spine of FIL’s card, with a shring plastic sea horse and starfish.

Actually, for ages, I’ve kept well away from Paper Mania and Do Craft, wrongly perceiving them to be cheap products of poor quality…..but I have to admit that I am wrong about some of their stuff. The pack of cards I got are the most fabulous quality, and a beautiful surface to work on, and I have recently got a couple of albums. I think the reason I am looking more carefully, is the fact that Lydia stalks the toy department at the department store, and the craft items are right next door.

Pose (2003)

this is my attempt (and probably less than successful) of one of the Design Collective Classes – don’t be put off, the original class was lovely, but I lost my way by not concentrating.

There is actually a white border all the way around but it doesn’t show up in the scan, and also a bad shadow (because it’s lumpy) falls right across the middle – I promise it’s better IRL.

I went with the Distress Inks squares all over the background because I dropped the ink pad, and decided to just add more at that point!

Sad:Happy layout

the pre-class challenge on the Design Collective was to produce a layout using things that weren’t on your favourite list.
I had stamps, inks and paint on my list, so they were out – usually though, this is exactly what I would use on my layouts – so I used some K & Co Studio K papers with bright orange, dark pink and pale green cardstock. The stickers and metal are K & co too, rub-ons are by Kopp Design & Making Memories, flowers are by Making Memories, and the blue ribbon was from a Scrap Goods kit.
Apologies for the shadowy scanning – lumpy pages to blame I’m afraid.

30 Minute Challenge on Design Collective….

obviously, there is no way on god’s earth that I could do a layout in 30 minutes, but after factoring in paint drying and the chipboard UTEE letters, this took me about 120 minutes in total.

So, for a girl who usually takes over a week to do a quick layout this was super-speedy.

I’m so glad that I joined the Design Collective, it’s given my mojo a huge kick up the knickers!

I cut round the green circle, and made a pouch on the reverse side for the tag (with handwritten journalling – and that’s why it’s hidden) to sit in. I really love that cheepo ice cream stamp I picked up a while ago, and IRL the image zings out because I painted it with Twinkling H2o’s and then put glossy accents over the top.

All in all, I’m really pleased with this layout of my baby girl’s little hands in the fountain (la fontana) in San Genesio last year on holiday…fingers crossed there will be many more layouts to follow, as I have soooo many photos to get through.

Hello chums, had a busy weekend……

crafting with the girls on Saturday, and then housework and general wifeliness on Sunday.

When I say crafting, what I really mean is that they crafted, I ate cake and chatted, cut out some stamps, and did I 8×8 background for no specific reason.

Managed to whip up a really quick 8×8 layout for this photo I found of me lurking on my desk – I have no idea how it got there, but thought I would seize the day and do something with it.

Floral pattern paper is Chatterbox and orange is Sweetwater, absolutely no idea what the green check one is, another thing found lurking – I have a vague feeling that the photo and papers may have found their way there when I unpacked from Scrapping Angels (tells you a lot about how often I clear up my desk hey)!

Stamps are usual HA Sunny and MM foam ones. Corner stamp is some random thing I’ve had from ages, and can’t remember where I got it. Ink is the usual Memories Art Print Brown and Colourbox Peach Patel and Versacolour Smoke Blue. Angel kisses in blue and white and random blue brad.

I think I was about three in the photo so that around 1964, and I was clearly going for the Red Riding Hood but with style look.
