What’s on your desk?

2009-06-26-DSCF0537

this is on mine ………. I had a spare piece of the text paper, and so decided to try out my new Spellbinders Magnetic Plate (only thing is that I have yet to work out how to use it with the CB, and used my Wizard).

The dies stick like glue to the plate, and so it’s really super easy to make a frame.

Once cut out I used specially adapted Alcohol Ink applicator with Cut’n’Dry Foam to ink around all edges, and then stamped out the pretty SU flower girl on Whispers White cardstock and coloured in with Copics.  Added Stickles to the flower heads, and Crackle Accents to the hat, then placed the frame over the image.

’twill probably look mega pretty on a box, and so that might be the next thing on my list this weekend.

We are excitedly awaiting the return of the Rubbah Elf in this household tonight, as he’s been away on business in Italy, the house is just not the same with out him!

Tomorrow is a busy day, as we’ve got to be at Bluewater early doors for Toodles uniform fitting, and then general food shopping etc., in the afternoon, but hopefully I can make a start on my box – it would possibly make a nice housing for choccies for each of the girls on thir last day at work in September.

Have a good evening, and happy crafting.

Deepest Sympathy (Rose Tapestry BIU-017)

2009-06-13-rosetap-card

This is the first time I’ve got to play with the new Rose Tapestry Sheet (BIU-017), and I am having heaps of fun with it.

2009-06-13-rosetap-cardinside

I used a portion of the Rose Tapestry 6×6 main stamp as well as “Deepest Sympathy” and the “Rose Leaves” quotation on the inside.

I deliberately ran a bit of extra Versamark around some of the edge of the “Deepest Sympathy” stamp so that it picked up some of the Galactic Gold EP and gave it a slightly distressed look.

Gone Fishing …

2009-06-09-georgecard-DSCF0498

mmmm, now this picture (taken by the Rubbah Elf I hasten to add) just does not do justice to how shiney the embossed circles are, or how beautifully irridescent the fish are in real life….. it’s all really 3-d, but again it most definitely has not come through – this is destined for a Birthday Boy tomorrow, so I am not sure if I can bet a better shot, but will give it a go.

Hippity hopping around is much better, but I am still in loads of pain – this bit of crafting has made me feel way better though.

EDITED TO ADD: Nope try as I might I can’t capture just how this shines in reality – soz about that.

Off to The Chicken Shack today

where my lovely friend Caz is doing an SU demo.  Hopefully, I will also do a quick Toodles & Binks demo if there is time.  I fully intend to travel light, which will be a first (and we shall see if that is a true statement when the time arrives for me to leave!).

I said yesterday that I would upload the card, and voila ………..

2009-04-16-dscf04011

Although from the angle that I photographed it, you can’t really see how lovely and shimmery the ArtQuest Watercolours are.

It was a frustrating end to the day yesterday, as we’ve run into some technical issues with the new Sally-Ann Hancock Stamps, and have had to push them back to Priority Ordering – this is a pain as they are proving very popular – hey ho, they will be worth the wait, and will be despatched on first come basis – it won’t take up long to catch up the orders as the Rubbah Elf has promised to work through the night if necessary to cook sufficient.  I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice to say manufacturing rubber stamps, can occasionally be a bit like a long night shift in the maternity ward.

Supplies List

  • SU Roses in Winter set
  • SU Circle of Friendship
  • Soft Grey cardstock
  • Doodlebug Sugar cardstock in pink (Stamp Galaxy)
  • US ArtQuest Watercolours
  • Small white self-adhesive pearls
  • SU inkpads
  • SU scallop circle punch
  • Creative Imaginations round circle punch
  • Green stitched ribbon (Stamp Galaxy)

Copics Colour Challenge – #8

2009-04-08-dscf0392

as Toodles and Binks are now going to be sponsoring the challenge on a regular basis, and this week was our first week, I just had to take part, as for the last two weeks I’ve got as far as actually colouring in something, and then not having time to come through!

I decided I would use Chickadee (RRP-010), and make a small Easter Card for the Inlaws.

I used my large shaped label nestie as the basis for the card (but just staying short of the top, so you end up with a folded card) and then cut out the same shape again in pattern paper and lined it up just at the bottom.  I will try and do a quick tutorial of that in the week if I can.

Supplies List

My I have to say so many of you are loving both Chickadee and Amelie Bunnykins.

Ohh my golly gosh I love flowersoft

it’s passed me by until today, when I bought a couple of pots of it, the Summer colour and a Pale Green one.

I used it earlier on a SU stamp that had flowers in the foreground, and it really makes them stand out.  I will post a picture of the card later on today …… currently, up and blurfing as for some unknown reason, and despite the fact that I am bone tired, I cannot sleep …. it’s amazing just how much catching up with all the wonderfulness on line can make you feel relaxed and sleepy.

Talking of Flowersoft, a friend also told me about some wonderfullness that is due to arrive in their shop very shortly, and it sort of a velvet flocking, which when heated with a heat gun puffs up, and looks velvety.  Apparently, it comes in some yummy colours too, so I can’t wait to get my paws on that.

I induldged in a bit more retail therapy today, also got myself  Heart Nesties and Pinked Edge Circle Nesties – I have to admit that I don’t think I will be entirely happy until I have all of them, but feel that I slip further and further behind all the time, what with all the lovely new releases from Spellbinders that keep coming out – I mean, have you seen the yummy frameabilities that were released at CHA – I have to have them!

My entry for Copics Colour Challenge # 4

2009-03-15-no4-dscf0375

I didn’t have the Yellow that was requested in the challenge, so I used the closest that I had to it……..

  • Y17 – Golden Yellow
  • V06 – Lavender
  • BG13 – Mint Green

and then added to that:

  • YE31 – Brick Beige
  • YR14 – Caramel
  • E41 Pearl White
  • C1 – Cool Grey 1
  • Sakura Silver Gelly roll for centre flowers and Crystal Art Inst Glitter with Sakura Quickie Glue Pen

I wanted to go sublte for this one, so I coloured the centres of the flowers with the Mint Green, and then did one pass of the yellow on the petals, added spots of violet to the petals, and went over again with yellow to blend it together ….. I had some of the beautiful mottled pansies in mind that are in our garden at the moment.  Then I went over the leaves and stalks with mint green, and filled in the centre with the peal white.  As usual all around the outside with cool grey 1.  The ribbon was coloured in the violet.

I first of all just coloured the centres with the silver sakura gelly roll, but it was a bit flat, so in the end I used my fail safe of white PM pearls here and there and coloured then with the mint green – just having plain pearls and colouring always means I can co-ordinate (it works on ribbon too), and just then used the Quickie Glue pen on the few remaining centres and the ribbon on the pot – it gives gives a bit more texture.

The card blank is a tiny one from SU (I got lots of them in a goodie bag last year), and so this has given me an idea, I’m going to start doing more cards this size and then bundle them up as gifts packs in holders for Xmas.  The stamp set is SU Garden Playtime, and I’ve had it probably since last summer (bought it from Caz), and never used it.

I thought I had quite a few colours, but it’s clear that I am going to need more to keep up, and Stamp Galaxy/Toodles and Binks have been thinking about becoming Copic Distributors, so would anyone be interested in pre-ordering sets or single colours if we did?

PS:  Uggghh, I’ve just realised that the cardstock looks really blue in the picture, when it’s actually a bright peakcock green colour.

Copic Challenge #3

2009-03-07-frog1-dscf037112009-03-07-frogicon-dscf0373

here’s my entry for the new Copic Challenge blog, which this time was a sketch and then any choice of Copic colour.

I really enjoyed the challenge, but worked the three squares across the bottom slightly differently, by doing a fold back card, so that one of the squares is on the bottom layer.

  • Stamps:  SU Unfrogettable Set (retired)
  • Milky White Shrink Plastic
  • Horrendously expensive colouring pencils
  • Staz on
  • Cuttlebug
  • Classic Scallop Recetangles Large)
  • Copics:  E31 Brick Beige; YR09 Cadmium Orange; R02 Flesh; E41 Pearl White; YG03 Yellow Green; C1
  • Sakura Gellyroll
