Easter Wishes Tag

2009-04-05-dscf0391

Just a quick tag, courtesy of Marks & Spencer – I raced in yesterday to grab a few bits and pieces (as Tooldes is staying with her Grandpartents for a week, and I am away on non T&B business).

M&S have now started to use a lot thick cardboard tags, and thread instead of yucky plastic ones, and the tage was just too nice and thick to throw away, so I altered it to hang on Toodles Easter present for next week.

Supplies:

A quick how to:

  • Cut two small pieces of Amy Butler pattern paper just large enough to cover the pre-printed product details on both of the tags, but leaving some of the lovely pre-printed scroll work on the top and edges of the back.  Run the Gingerbread ink pad around the edges and adhere.
  • Layer up the brown and yellow silk flowers, hold together with a brad, and adhere at bottom righthand side at the front.
  • Tie a piece of pale green silk ribbon around the tag, and secure in a knot at the front.
  • Cut of the middle tag from the nested tag dies in white cardstock.
  • Stamp the “Easter Wishes” from the Chickadee stamp in Old Olive Ink, edge the tag with Pretty in Pink Ink
  • Cover the tag with versamark ink, and sprinkle on some SU Heat’n’stick powder, heat with heat gun until it melts, then sprinkle on some of the SU Crystal Glitter, shake off the excess and heat again to set.
  • Adhere the tag with 3-d foam pads just above the flower at an angle (adding a small gold brad).
  • Tie the pink fringed ribbon through the tag hole, but leave the lovely silk thread that was tied to the garment in place.

I get all my SU bits and bobs from my lovely friend Caz.

Always measure twice and cut once

well, that’s what Guy always says, and I hate to admit it, but he is probably right.

I started out yesterday morning to work on the first of my Design Collective lessons, a mini book project, which called for 6.5″ chipboard covers.

Now, I’ve used a centre ruler for ages, and really do know how to use it, but what with interruptions, phone calls, dead fish, and various other things, I mistankenly cut the covers to 7.5″ instead. The trouble was that the penny only dropped when I’d got well into covering them, and thought that the size required was a bit on the mean side….and then realised that the instructions were just fine and dandy, and it was my poor concentration/measuring that was at fault.

So I’ve pushed one with the chipboard covers the size they are, and am just doing a different project with them.

I will cut new chipbaord, and start again for the mini book project. Honestly, sometimes I am a stupid cow!

Faberge Inspired card

this card, which was for the Pre-Class Challenge on the Design Collective, was completley inspired by Faberge’s wonderful eggs.

I painted the chipboard flowers with Jo Sonja’s paint in Jade and Plum Pink, and edged them roughly with Jo Sonja’s Richd Gold. Then steamped the middle flower with Oasis French Manuscript and then two green ones with Savvy Vine Background stamps. Covered in Versamark and then Kalidescope Embossing Powder and heat embossed.

Then I added jewels to the middle of the flowers, and white glass beads to the two green flowers as well to give a heavily jewelled look.

The card blank was covered in Provocraft Illustrations paper, and inked around the edges with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

Next I made two holes in the spine with the BG Notch & Die, and tied through some silver/green organze ribbon.

That’s one birthday card and one Mother’s day card down, just need to do two more Birthday cards for Saturday.
