Desparately seeking Donald {and Richard} Brown…

at the weekend family and I sallied forth to the Watsons’ for lunch – and a lovely time was had by all.

Yummy Shepherd’s Pie courtesy of David, and a huge old fashioned suitcase full of photographs (mostly black and white) courtesy of Carole. Apparently, years ago David rescued them from the bonfire at a nursing home – he just couldn’t stand to see somebody’s family history go up in smoke.

We have gleaned from sorting through that the main character is Donald Brown, and his Son Richard {Dick} and Daughter, who we think is probably called Helen {wife same}, also that they lived in Dry Hill Park in Tonbridge at one time, and also had a big Polish element in there as well – from the pictures they were obviously wealthy, had servants and lived in large houses both here and in Poland (we think pre WWII). Also to throw into this pot they were great photographers, we are not sure whether Donald or Dick were professionals/semi-professionals, but it points that way.

Absolutely fasinating to go through a whole family’s history like that. I am going to have a whirl at trying to find out/trace them, as I am certain that there must be more family out there. I know if it were me, I would not want to loose precious family photos.

Slave has them in the back of his motor at the moment, but I will give you a glimpse of Donald – he looks a thoroughly lovely chap.
